Frequently Asked Questions
Below you’ll find a selection of the most frequently asked questions concerning our retreats and services. If you don’t see a question you’d like answered here, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Many places encourage a passive experience that involves laying down with your eyes closed but this is not how the medicine has been approached traditionally. At Kurikindi Kawsay we always encourage active participation. That is to sit well and present yourself with humility and willingness. Ceremonies at Kurikindi Kawsay are often interactive in that we talk and communicate during the ceremony. This helps learning, healing and general navigation during the journey. This way of active learning reduces the need for prolonged time periods of integration because the understanding we need comes immediately during or just after the ceremony when we sit and talk further.
We recommend you keep things simple. Eat wholesome natural food, spend time contemplating your intentions and meditate on the future you dream for yourself.
We currently do not offer separate integration support. Integration is a live process that evolves during your stay. Our ceremonies are held in such a way that you are an active learning, not a passive participant. In this way you digest your experience much faster.
Yes, all ceremonies are open to participants on their moon cycle. It is good to let Kurikindi or a member of staff know just in case any extra preparation needs to be made.
No, we do not have medical facilities. Should we have a medical emergency, Puyo hospital is within a 45 min drive.
Once you have confirmed your space you will be required to pay a 50% deposit which is non refundable.
Yes, Children are welcome and encouraged. It is normal for Rainforest communities to have children present in their ceremonial space and we encourage the same here at Kurikindi Kawsay. This work is for the children, so it makes sense for them to be there learning with us.
Sorry, we do not currently offer payment plans. 50% deposit at time of booking and the remaining 50% 30 days before arrival. There is the option to bring the remaining 50% in cash.
With a strong and determined spirit anything is possible. We will do our best to accommodate physical disabilities. Please talk to a member of staff before booking your trip.
It is not recommended to leave before the end of the retreat. You will not receive a refund and your energetic process will not be complete.
The Kurikindi Kawsay Healing Centre is located an hours drive from Puyo, Pastaza.
The food will be natural, often traditional and of course freshly prepared using locally produced fruits, vegetables & meats with fish and eggs farmed on the land. The food is intended to support you physically throughout your journey. If you have any serious dietary restrictions, please let us know.
You will find an example itinerary if you follow the link in the Retreats page.
There will be organised excursions which will require us to leave the centre. Other than that it is not recommended to leave the centre.
No, we do not have medical personnel on staff. We aim to have at least one person qualified in first aid on site.
At no time are recreational or illegal drugs allowed in the Kurikindi Kawsay centre. It is very important that all Ecuadorian laws are obeyed. Most drugs that are illegal in other countries are also illegal in Ecuador.
There is an unhealthy obsession with the possibility of purging during an Ayahuasca ceremony. Whilst there is of course significant alteration of your energetic architecture, healing and purging are not synonymous. At Kurikindi Kawsay we approach everything respectfully, including the amount of medicine we consume. Abusing the medicine to induce purging is neither respectful or helpful. Each participant is encouraged to consume within their limits (and if that’s not known, our Maestro will be able to tune the amount). We come to participate in our own learning and transformation, maybe that will include the need to clear something out but it’s not a focus of the ceremonies at Kurikindi Kawsay.
